Have you ever attended an event at a Skagit farm venue, or would you like to in the future?

  • Skagit County planning commissioners have recommended new code to restrict Agritourism in areas designated as Farmland. These restrictions would destroy Agritourism businesses. They seem to see Agritourism as incompatible with the practice of Agriculture.  Agritourism however rejuvenates rural areas, bringing economic benefits and keeping local populations employed. Agritourism also promotes an appreciation of the land, and an awareness of agriculture among visitors.  The benefit of Agritourism is that it enables growth while keeping the rural character of the County intact.

  • Skagit County's farm venues play a vital role in our local economy and bring in millions of dollars annually for local hotels, restaurants, caterers, DJs, event planners, photographers, hair and make up stylists, etc.

  • Farm venues provide unique opportunities for residents and tourists alike to experience the beauty of rural life while learning about and supporting local farms. Farm venue events foster community engagement through activities like farm to table dinners, weddings, memorials, reunions, religious and cultural events including quinceaneras, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, LGBTQ events, company retreats, art shows, school auctions, charity fundraisers, birthday parties, anniversaries, educational workshops, agritourism experiences and much more.

We propose a collaborative approach that involves engaging with local farmers, farm venues, business owners, community members to develop reasonable guidelines that support all farms, farm venues, local businesses & vendors.
